Aviva Canada helping address pressing needs in Canada’s Indigenous and diverse communities with $500,000 financial contribution

November 27, 2024 (TORONTO, ON) – As food bank visits soar, Aviva Canada is contributing $250,000 to support Canadians facing food insecurity. Of these funds, $200,000 is going to Food Banks Canada, including their North Program which supports Indigenous communities in Northern Canada facing limited employment possibilities and barriers to accessing necessities such as groceries. The remaining $50,000 will go to Community Food Centres Canada to support community food organizations that provide fresh, nourishing and culturally appropriate foods, while also helping build skills, social connection and healthy lives. Aviva employees will also be heading into their communities across Canada to volunteer with these organizations in the lead-up to the holidays.

In addition, Aviva is donating a sum of $250,000 to support charitable partnerships that address and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion across Canada. Some of the work supported by Aviva’s contributions include building leadership skills and career development for women and gender-diverse people, improving financial literacy, creating opportunities for the economic development in Indigenous communities, supporting caregivers and the neurodivergent community, and fostering safe and positive environments where everyone can be themselves.

“It is important to me that Aviva is a force for good in our communities and supports organizations and partners working to address food insecurity and social inequality, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion for all Canadians,” said Tracy Garrad, Chief Executive Officer, Aviva Canada. “I am touched to see our people giving back and helping in their communities. This commitment echoes Aviva’s ambition to make a tangible difference and help build a strong, resilient, and inclusive Canada.”
