Aviva Canada welcomes two senior insurance leaders

July 29, 2024 (TORONTO, ON) – Aviva Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of two senior insurance executives to its executive leadership team, reporting into CEO Tracy Garrad. 

Garth Pepper, a seasoned insurance veteran in the Canadian and North American Specialty and Commercial insurance community, will join Aviva Canada as Managing Director of Aviva Business Insurance from Aug. 6, 2024. With more than 30 years of experience, Pepper was most recently President, North America Middle Market, Global Risk Solutions at Liberty Mutual Insurance. In his new role, Pepper will be responsible for the growth and development of Aviva Canada’s small to medium and middle market commercial insurance business. 

Pascal Dessureault will join Aviva Canada as Chief Public Affairs, Marketing and Communications Officer from Aug. 19, 2024. An experienced communications and public affairs leader, Dessureault also has a deep understanding of corporate strategy and ESG within the financial sector. Formerly Head of Communications & Public Affairs, Commercial Banking, at HSBC Canada, he led change communications and government relations strategy for key initiatives across international markets and positioned the bank as a leader in the net-zero space. In this role, Dessureault will be accountable for building on Aviva Canada’s reputational and brand strategies.
