Navigation Area and Territorial Boundaries

All NautiMax policies cover a vast territory of water. Pleasure craft owners in Quebec can navigate the inland and coastal waters of Canada and the United States between 52 degrees and 40 degrees north latitude and less than 160 kilometers from the coast.

More specifically, the navigation territory in Canada includes the:

  • Ottawa River,
  • lakes and rivers between Quebec and Ontario
  • St. Lawrence River, the Saguenay River, and
  • inland waters of New Brunswick.

For the United States, the navigation territory includes the:

  • inland waters of Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut and,
  • Rhode Island to New York (Hudson River and Harbor excluded).

If you are one of many boaters who like to venture south- to, the US East Coast, Florida or other destinations, such as the Bahamas and the Caribbean, be aware that your basic insurance policy doesn’t cover these areas.

To be insured in these areas, you must inform your broker MD Marine. They can add a territory extension to your policy, for a surcharge calculated according to the desired area.

Avoid unpleasant surprises. No matter where you navigate, be sure to let your broker know for proper protection.
